If you are looking for a route into the industry but don't have a formal qualification, then this programme could be an ideal gateway. This is a fast-paced and highly relevant programme that combines the latest sports coaching techniques with theory and practical work based learning to provide an excellent springboard to your future studies and career. It has been specifically designed for people planning a career in the sports industry or who want to continue their sports education to degree level.
Duration of Course:2 Years
You will need a minimum of 160 UCAS points or hold a relevant Access Certificate / Diploma with appropriate units. In line with the widening participation brief, however, the Institute will also encourage applications from students who lack formal qualifications.
International Students also require an IELTS score of 5.5 in all areas or a B2 equivalent English Language qualification

How is the course assessed:
Whilst on this programme students will be assessed using a variety of methods: reports/essays, practical assessments (both individual and group based), reflective assignments, portfolios, examinations, case studies and presentations (individual and group). All assessment methods are designed to incorporate key skills which are transferable to the workplace.
Upon successful completion of this degree, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a new career, or advance an existing one in sports coaching or the wider field of sports development. Organisations such as National Governing Bodies, Local Council Sports Development Departments, County Sports Partnerships, Private Coaching and Leisure Companies all provide opportunities for graduates to work at local, regional and national level in various sports, from grassroots to elite level participation. Graduates from this programme are well positioned to gain employment due to completing significant work placement hours within the sector. Opportunities also exist to progress onto top up degree programmes for those who wish to pursue further study in the subject area.
