Events management is one of the fastest-growing and most exciting areas of today's leisure industry. This programme builds on practical skills and academic ability to produce trained, motivated individuals with the desire to succeed in this developing area.
On successful completion, there is the opportunity to progress on to the BA Tourism and Business Management Top Up or the final year of the Business Management degree at the Grimsby Institute.
Duration of Course:2 Years
You will need a minimum of 120 UCAS points or hold a relevant Access Certificate / Diploma with appropriate units. In line with the widening participation brief, however, the Institute will also encourage applications from students who lack formal qualifications.
International Students also require an IELTS score of 5.5 in all areas or a B2 equivalent English Language qualification

How is the course assessed:
Whilst on this programme students will be assessed using a variety of methods: individual written assignments (reports and essays), case study based assignments, assignments based on a 'live' project/event, individual and group presentations, closed book exams and the compilation of a self assessment plan. All assessment methods are designed to incorporate key skills which are transferable to the workplace.
Upon successful completion of this foundation degree, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a new career, or advance an existing one within the Event industry. Some graduates will progress on to a final year of study in order to complete a BA Degree in this discipline. Graduates will be able to pursue a wide range of roles within the event industry such as an events organiser/project manager for a charity or business organisation. Other graduates may prefer a more specialised role within the event industry and seek positions such as an event marketing manager or event finance manager in which they can develop their key skills specifically. Alternatively some graduates may prefer the route of event fundraising for organisations. This is just an example of the roles available to graduates following completion of FdA Business & Event Management programme.
