BSc (Hons) Computing Technologies Top Up

This challenging programme is aimed at creating highly employable individuals ready to take on specialist or managerial roles within the IT industry. In addition to developing your existing computer knowledge, it aims to broaden the problem solving and personal skills that are essential to succeed in your chosen career.

As the IT industry becomes increasingly more competitive, employers are eager to recruit highly skilled individuals who can make a measurable difference to their business. Available on a full or part-time basis, this degree equips you to work either independently or as a member of a team or special project group.

Entry requirements:

Applicants wishing to gain direct entry onto the top-up at level 6 must have at least 240 CATS (Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme) points gained through study at levels 4 and 5 in an approved discipline such as Computing, Computer Science or Applied Computing.

International Students also require an IELTS score of 5.5 in all areas or a B2 equivalent English Language qualification

What you will learn:

The course will teach you the skills needed for entry into industrial or commercial employment. It will instruct you in the skills necessary to gain and maintain employment in the computing sector. The modules are:

3D Visualisation
Research Project
Using Web Services in a Distributed Environment
Mobile and Broadband Infrastructure
The Data Warehouse
Intelligent Systems and Ubiquitous Computing

How is the course assessed:

Whilst on this programme students will be assessed using a variety of methods: individual and group assignments, practice-based assignments, case studies, project management, problem-based scenarios, simulations, technical design and product development, portfolios, reflective assignments and open book in-class tests. All assessment methods are designed to incorporate key skills which are transferable to the workplace.
